Manuscript drafts, galley proofs, magazines, clippings, tear sheets, letters, photographs, slides, audiotapes, and a typewriter documenting Shrake's writing career, primarily since the 1970's. Contains research material gathered for the autobiography of Willie Nelson (including tapes and transcripts of oral interviews used in the book); drafts and letters concerning the autobiography of former University of Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer; manuscript drafts of Shrake's novels and screenplays, both produced and unproduced; photographs and a few letters (most from the 1960's); and drafts of works by Dan Jenkins and Willie Morris.

Edwin Shrake, born Sept. 6, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas, has written Blood reckoning (1961), But not for love (1964), Strange peaches (1972), Peter Arbiter (1973), and co-authored Limo (1976) with Dan Jenkins. He also wrote the screenplays for J.W. Coop (1972, with Gary Cartwright), Kid Blue (1973), Nightwing (1978) and Tom Horn (1980) as well as numerous short stories.
